Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Domestic Couple (Housekeeper and Gardener) to join a private estate located in Gloucestershire. The couple will be responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and organisation, and aesthetic appeal of the estate’s interior and exterior spaces. This unique opportunity offers the chance to work in a beautiful countryside setting and contribute to the upkeep of a beautiful historic estate.

There are both horses and dogs on the estate, so ideally the couple must be used to working with animals.

Job duties:
Responsibilities of the Domestic Couple in Gloucestershire include:

Housekeeper

  • Perform thorough cleaning tasks on a regular basis to ensure all rooms are maintained to the highest standards
  • Dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and polishing of all surfaces and fixtures
  • Laundry duties including washing, ironing, and folding clothes
  • Carrying out the weekly food shop
  • Running errands, including pick up/drop off to airports/stations etc
  • Wardrobe organisation, cupboards, and storage areas to maximise space and efficiency
  • Procurement and inventory management of cleaning supplies and household essentials
  • Occasional meal preparation and assistance with dinner service for formal gatherings or events, including recruiting and managing staff for events
  • Managing external contractors
  • Occasional pet care

Gardener

  • Maintain the estate’s gardens, lawns, and outdoor areas to ensure they are well-groomed, healthy, and visually appealing
  • Planting, pruning, and landscaping duties to enhance the aesthetic beauty of the grounds
  • Regular maintenance of garden equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure they are in good working condition
  • Weed control and pest management
  • Seasonal tasks, such as leaf raking
  • Collaboration with the estate manager or other staff members to plan and execute special projects or events involving outdoor spaces

Candidates must be/have:

Housekeeper

  • Proven experience as a professional housekeeper in a private residence or luxury hospitality setting
  • Excellent knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Discretion and respect for the privacy and confidentiality of the employer and their guests
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed

Gardener

  • Previous experience in gardening, landscaping, or horticulture, preferably in a similar private estate
  • A solid understanding of plant care, soil management, and landscaping and horticultural practices
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining garden equipment and machinery
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform outdoor tasks in various weather conditions
  • Attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills to address landscaping challenges and maintain the integrity of the estate’s outdoor spaces
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with other estate staff members and follow instructions from the estate manager or employer

Each individual must hold a valid driving licence. No pets or dependants.

Accommodation
A double-bedroom, ensuite bathroom, kitchen and living area, close to the main house.

Full-time.
